The inability to EDIT an e-mail before attaching is a pain. What happened to that?! Now an e-mail thread grows in Outlook grows exponentially in SF. Weird approach, huh?

Has anyone felt that email/messaging integration in SF is weak? I have found some of the following shortcomings, to name a few:
1) Inability to associate email with more than one contact
2) Inability to browse for contacts from email which are not associated with the primary contact account
3) Lack of email thread tracking ala MSCRM

Has anyone heard of developments around a more robust email/messaging integration solution for SF?
