To add clarity to the comments from Rose:

Salesforce for Google AdWords provides both of the following capabilities:

(a) New advertisers can manage AdWords using a simplified version of the AdWords user interface from with Salesforce
http://blogs.salesforce.com/adwords/2006/11/new_advertiser_.html

(b) Existing advertisers can link Salesforce to their existing Google AdWords account, thereby taking advantage of all of the advanced functionality that the AdWords user interface has to offer (day-parting, content network, etc)
http://blogs.salesforce.com/adwords/2006/11/link_salesforce.html

Either way, all Salesforce for Google AdWords customers receive the benefit of lead conversion tracking, which allows a marketer to measure the exact impact Google advertising programs have on leads, pipeline, deals, and revenue.

Many settings in Google Adwords accounts are not accessible when managing them through Salesforce. Since the API used appears to require that a MCC (My Client Center) account be used to log-in I suspect it is not possible to access the account directly at Google Adwords. Is there any plan to add any of this functionality or the new features Google has recently added? While I appreciate that Salesforce simplified the process of advertising at Google, features such as being able to determine if your budget is sufficient for your ads to display consistently, controlling whether content ads are running, and checking to see if keywords are actually active (new in Adwords accounts) are not really optional if you want to maximize results.

Kieden has been renamed "Salesforce for Google AdWords" and as of Dreamforce this year (Oct 7, 2006) it is FREE as part of Unlimited and Enterprise Editions, as well as the marketing upgrade to Professional Edition.

[...] Kieden has a service that they have now called Salesforce for Google AdWords (click here to learn more), and this lets people launch a Google AdWords advertising campaign from a Salesforce.com application. Apparently this service will cost $300 per company per month. [...]

Scott, what do you know about SFDC integration with Google Analytics? If they integrated with GA, all that other stuff (Yahoo, MSN, banner ads, organic search) would come too (if you use GA, which is now easy to get as long as you are not queasy about having Google see your stats.) I desperately need to see who finally bought a product and correlate with how their online lead was generated.

As a follow up for GettingThingsDone:

To put it simply, Kieden allows companies to measure return on advertising spend. On average, Salesforce customers are spending $3,000-$5,000 a month with Google advertising. Many companies are spending more per month with Google than on seat licenses of Salesforce. However, there is currently a huge disconnect between Google AdWords (advertising) and Salesforce.com (sales)

"Half of all advertising dollars are wasted, the trick is figuring out which half" -David Ogilvy (and others)

By correlating ad clicks with leads and opportunities, Kieden will show you exactly which campaigns, ads, and keywords are generating meaningful results for the business. This means the advertising budget is trackable, all the way through to the sales organization.

As a secondary benefit, Kieden provides a Google bid management application inside the SFDC interface, makeing it easy to keep an eye on ad programs and optimize campaigns in real-time. Should you choose, Kieden also allows you to link your existing Google AdWords account with Salesforce.

GettingThingsDone - You can do a lot of this from Google Adwords and you should do it there if you don\'t want to tie visitors to specific ads to your Salesforce.com leads. If you use Salesforce.com web-to-lead regularly and also use Adwords for search marketing, then this is a good solution for you.

Kieden is only focused around the analytics of your Google Ads as they relate to your Salesforce.com leads. It\'s not meant to be a complete web statistics solution. If you don\'t use Salesforce web-to-lead or if you don\'t feel you need the ability to track leads back to specific ads, then you don\'t need Kieden.

I kept reading the article expecting to see the benefits of having Google AdWords injected into your SF space. Either I missed it or there are simply no any.

What's the point of this app if you can do it all in Google at no additional cost? AdWords is not the only channel to get relevant visitors to your site, and this is where Analytics comes into play. So... what's so compelling about Kieden?
