What is ConnectOnDemand?

I came upon a new site in my Salesforce.com RSS search. Does anyone know what this site is all about? It says it’s sponsored by Salesforce.com and is a networking site related to the Success On Demand events going on now. Is it like a LinkedIn for Salesforce.com users?

Kind of. They did a quick demo on the city tour. It’s like linked in–you can find salesforce.com users who have a simlar profile to you–developers, in your vertical, admins, etc.

They’re also going to roll the support boards into it.

At the City Tour events in New York and Philadelphia, there was a brief mention of a new tool that would allow “like” salesforce.com users to “connect”, sort of a social networking/work networking tool for salesforce.com. The big graphic was a circular chart with you at the center. Different wedges contained other people in different categories. The closer the person was to you, the more like they were.

Apparently some attendees (not me) had been asked to fill out surveys and get into the system for beta testing.

Maybe the system is getting closer to release.

I had a good opportunity to spend 1/2 hour in here and must say that I am somewhat impressed. The people map is a great interface but I dont think they have yet turned on full functionality. I couldnt seem to figure out how to even start a conversation with friends and existing customers I found in the system.

I think there are still some more switched to throw and some additional groups that should be grassroots created including “The Guiness Group”

Connect On Demand is a business networking tool for salesforce.com users, prospective customer, partners and even employees. Think match.com for business networking. We are still testing but would LOVE your feedback and comments on how to make it even better. The momentum is growing and we hope that it is a great place for you to network and find the exact RIGHT salesforce.com users/partners you are looking for. Currently I am focusing on enhancing the chat board functionality and search to make it more user friendly. Stay connected and let me know your feedback.
